The Ocean Course

The Ocean Course, host of the 2007 Senior PGA Championship and future host of the 2012 PGA Championships, is ranked 25th in Golf Digest's 100 Greatest US Golf Courses. Voted #1 course in South Carolina, the Ocean Course brags that it is one of the hardest golf courses in the entire country. Built in 1991 by Pete Dye, the course is unique because it was built to accomodate both the easterly along with the westerly winds. The Ocean Course was also used in filming the major motion picture The Legend of Bagger Vance, starring Will Smith, in 2000.

Turtle Point Golf Course

Designed by Jack Nicklaus, Turtle Point is a great golf course for the thinking golfer. This course was designed to, as Niclaus said, "make the player use his mind ahead of his muscles". Following classic golf course structure, Turtle Point has many narrow fairway corridors, small greens, and plenty of water-hazards and out-of-bounds areas. Turtle Point is a heavily wooded course in some areas, but wind still may be an issue. This course has been host to many different golf championships and has continued to be one of the nation's top 50 courses.

Osprey Point Golf Course

Designed as a members only type course, architect Tim Fazio created Osprey for its variety and playability. The course has large, natural lakes, forests, and a wide array of foliage. This particular course is best for the average golfer with generous landing areas and fewer forced carries. Osprey is ranked 10th out of 50 Best Golf Courses for Women by Golf for Women.

Cougar Point Golf Course

Ranked by the South Carolina Golf Owners Association, Cougar Point was recently named "Golf Course of the Year". Placed right in the center of the island, this course is known for its remarkable views. Cougar Point, originally Marsh Point, was redesigned in 1996 by architect Gary Player. Because of the variety of holes, this course requires players to think more in depth about their shots.
